In order to set the Search Preferences, go to the “Tools” menu and select the “Settings” option. There are two "Search Preferences" tabs in the "Settings" window:

The "Search preferences 1" tab includes four options:

Search the Black List – select this checkbox in order to search the Black List.
(The Black List is an editable database black list that include capitalized words that are not acronyms, but can appear in a document, for example, ON, OFF, DATE etc.).

Search the White List – select this checkbox in order to search the White List.
(The White List is an editable database white list of frequently-used acronyms that you can add and edit with every run).

Search the document for Acronyms Definitions (Meanings) – if this checkbox is unselected, the search algorithm will search the document for Acronyms only, without searching for the acronyms' meanings.

Search the Project Lists – select the Project List required to be searched.
(Project Llists are editable database project related white lists of frequently-used acronyms that you can add and edit with every run).

In order to add or remove Project Lists, click the “Add/Remove Project Lists” button.

The default location of the White List, Black List and Project List database files is "… Program Files/Acronyms Master" (usually it is "C:/Program Files/Acronyms Master").

You may set a different location for these files. You can also share your Lists with other users by placing them in shared folders or network drives. You can also control the read/write permissions by appropriate configuration of the network shared folders.

 

The "Search preferences 2" tab includes three options:

Identify acronyms with numbers – select this option if you would like to identify capitalized words with numbers as acronyms. Such as B2B, RS232 etc.

Identify acronyms with characters like “-“, “/”, “&” – select this option if you would like to identify capitalized words with characters like “-“, “/”, “&” as acronyms. Such as NI-CD, AC/DC etc.

Identify plural acronyms – select this option if you would like to identify plural acronyms. Such as PCs, ATMs etc.

Identify definitions with prepositions and articles – select this option if you would like to identify definitions that contain prepositions and articles, such as United States of America, Aircraft on the Ground etc.
